"Who are you?"
I'm a nerd: I love computers and videogames. I've been building PCs for most of my life.
I'm a drone pilot. I enjoy freestyle FPV ("first-person view") and racing. It's fun and challenging thanks to all the technical stuff: Flashing firmware, soldering, tuning, and flying.
I'm a full-time single dad. My daughter loves videogames as much as I do. We spend a lot of time playing Minecraft and old NES games.
"How'd you get into content creation and SEO?"
The nerd in me led me to my first job at GameStop. I worked my way up through the company over five years, becoming a Store Manager.
I left GameStop for Hibu, the company that owns Yellowbook. That's where I started creating content and doing SEO. I partnered with the Web Product VP to redesign our website design and content creation processes. I interviewed hundreds of business owners across all the verticals: Lawyers, dentists, marketers, jewelers, plumbers, auto body shops, racing teams, fashion designers, you name it.
I wrote a few hundred websites for those businesses. I wanted to hone my skills and focus on the auto industry. That led me to Turn5. There, I wrote hundreds of product descriptions and became the video team's Script Editor. Then I became an on-camera Host.
"What do you do now?"
I'm the SEO Manager at Uncommon Gear, LLC and Bart's Water Sports. We sell tactical rifle components, shooting gear, firearm accessories, and gunsmithing equipment, and recreational watercraft and boating accessories. I've helped grow our websites' organic search traffic to become leaders in their market niches.
I manage all customer-facing content across our websites. I'm responsible for all organic search and link-building. I've written hundreds of product descriptions and produced over one hundred technical guides, reviews, videos, and instructional content covering firearms. Collectively, this content garners millions of annual page visits.
I also independently contribute to
AllOutdoor.com, and I own and operate
KnifeKnowItAll.com.
